Laurel George, our newest Solvarian, will be working as our new Community Relations Specialist. Welcome to the team, Laurel!
Tell us a little about yourself – where are you from?
Originally from outside Louisville, KY, but have moved a lot. I’ve lived in Orlando, Tampa, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Tulsa, Memphis and now Richmond.
Where did you go to school? What was your favorite class or professor and why?
I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University. My favorite classes were Sociology because it helped me understand human behavior and Music History because I love playing and listening to classical music and found the personalities of composers fascinating.
What does success look like to you?
When people trust you and seek your advice to help them get better. Have your boss/colleagues tell you every once in a while, that your work helped them or the organization in some way.
What helps you focus and get in the groove of your work?
Those droning, new age/ambience playlists on Spotify really help me. Music with words annoy me when I’m working. But in the car, oh, you bet, it’s a full-on concert.
What are you most excited about with Solvaria?
There are a lot of things I’m excited about and I’ve only been here a day, but the mission is refreshing. It’s client and employee focused. I’m super excited too about being treated as a human adult.
If you had a week off work to go anywhere or do anything, what would you fill your time with?
