Richmond IT Consultancy Raises $32,000 in Support of Computer Science Education
Solvaria’s Annual Betting Big on Tech Charity Casino Night Has Raised $78,000 in Donations for CodeVA Over Three Years

December 2, 2019

Richmond, Va., – Solvaria, Richmond’s only IT consultancy focused exclusively on data services and strategic IT leadership, is proud to announce a $32,000 donation to CodeVA through its Betting Big on Tech Third Annual Charity Casino Night initiative. CodeVa is a nonprofit organization that, through advocacy, teacher training, and direct student programs, partners with schools, parents, and communities to bring equitable computer science education to all of Virginia’s students.

Betting Big on Tech is an annual charity casino night that brings together Richmond’s technology community, lawmakers, and teachers in support of equitable computer science education in Virginia classrooms. Solvaria started Betting Big on Tech in 2017, with the goal of making a $20,000 donation to CodeVA. Through the support and sponsorships from more than two dozen Richmond-based companies, Solvaria has been able to exceed that goal every year and donate more than $78,000 to CodeVa in the past three years. Notable sponsors in 2019 include Facebook, Altria, Capital One and CapGemini.

Using the donations from Betting Big on Tech, CodeVa has been able to make a tangible impact to schools across the state through various initiatives including, training a cohort of teachers for the K5 Computer Science Coach Program and by offering summer scholarships for more than 300 students annually, nearly half of which were girls.
